Our Admissions Process
1. Start With a Conversation
The first step is simply to talk.
Complete our inquiry form or contact us directly to tell us a little about your child.
We'll schedule an initial conversation to learn about your child's educational history, strengths, current challenges, and what you're looking for in a school.
There is no obligation to apply.
2. Come Visit Anchor
If it sounds like Anchor may be a good fit, we'll invite you to visit.
You'll have an opportunity to see the school, learn more about our educational approach, ask questions, and get a feel for the environment.
We want families to understand what makes Anchor different before making a decision.
3. Help Us Get to Know Your Child
If you'd like to move forward, we'll ask for relevant educational information.
Depending on the student, this may include:
Recent report cards
IEP or 504 Plan, if applicable
Educational or psychological evaluations
Reading or academic assessments
Teacher reports
Relevant progress reports or other educational records
Not every child will have all of these documents, and that's okay.
We may also ask to speak with a current teacher, therapist, or other professional who knows your child well, with parent permission.
4. Student Visit
When appropriate, prospective students will be invited to spend time at Anchor.
This gives us an opportunity to get to know the student beyond paperwork and test scores—and gives the student a chance to experience the environment for themselves.
We want students to be part of this decision.
5. Admissions Decision
After reviewing the available information and getting to know your child, we'll talk with you about whether we believe Anchor is an appropriate fit.
If we believe we can meet your child's needs and space is available, your family will receive an enrollment offer and tuition agreement.
A student's placement is reserved once the enrollment agreement and required deposit have been received.
Finding the Right Fit Matters
Families often come to Anchor Learning Academy because something isn't working.
Their child may be bright and capable but struggling in a traditional classroom. They may have dyslexia or another language-based learning difference. They may need to move more, learn differently, receive more individual attention, or have support with executive functioning. Anxiety may be getting in the way of learning—or school may simply have become a place where they no longer feel successful.
At Anchor Learning Academy, we start by getting to know the child.
Our admissions process is intentionally personal. We want to understand your child's strengths, challenges, learning history, and what you believe they need from school.
Just as importantly, we want families to get to know us.
Who Thrives at Anchor?
Anchor Learning Academy is designed for bright, capable students who benefit from a smaller, more flexible educational environment.
Our students may:
Have dyslexia or other language-based learning differences
Have ADHD or executive-function challenges
Experience anxiety related to school or learning
Need movement and flexibility throughout the school day
Learn best with explicit, individualized instruction
Become overwhelmed or lost in larger classrooms
Have struggled despite being capable learners
Need a school environment where teachers can truly know them as individuals
A diagnosis is not required for admission.
Because we are intentionally small, we consider each student individually. Admission is based on whether we believe Anchor can provide an environment in which the student can be successful.
What If We're Not Sure?
That's okay.
You don't need to know whether Anchor is the right school before contacting us. That's what the admissions process is for.
Sometimes a family visits and immediately knows they've found what their child needs. Other times, after learning more about a student, we may determine that another environment would serve them better.
Our goal isn't simply to enroll students.
It's to enroll students we believe we can help.
